In 1967, our founder Donn Chappellet set out to explore the farthest limits of Pritchard Hill, with an old 1882 surveyor map as his guide. That historic map now wraps the Hideaway bottle, honoring Donn’s adventurous spirit as we unearth the boundless expression of Cabernet Sauvignon from Pritchard Hill. This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon hails from our secluded Hideaway blocks perched at 1,425 feet on the rugged slopes of our estate vineyards.
Signature
Cabernet Sauvignon
The Signature Cabernet Sauvignon has been our flagship wine for more than three decades. It is a benchmark for the long-lived hillside wines of the Napa Valley; full of structure and aging potential, yet seductively forward in its concentrated varietal character. The dry, rocky soils of Pritchard Hill produce small, intensely flavorful grapes. Crop thinning allows for full, even ripening, and elevates flavor complexity.
Cabernet
Franc
The Chappellet Cabernet Franc is a traditional Bordeaux blend with Cabernet Franc at its base. The original vines were planted in 1989, making Cabernet Franc a relatively new addition to Pritchard Hill. This cellar-worthy variety thrives on the hill’s volcanic soils, where conditions are ideal for developing ripe, concentrated flavors.
